About the island
Lefkada is located in western Greece and is one of the most beautiful islands of the Ionian Sea. It is easily accessible by airplane (Aktion National Airport), and by car, since there is a swing bridge connecting it to the mainland.
Tourism is very well developed in the town and the east side of the island, whereas the west side is characterized by its unique natural beauty, with green mountains and crystal-clear waters… Some of the beaches of Lefkada, including Porto Katsiki and Kathisma, are very popular and have been ranked among the most beautiful in Europe. Nevertheless there are also many small secluded beaches, accessible only by foot or by small boats, which are still not widely known. Other beaches are ideal for sea-sports such as windsurfing, which is very common in Ai Giannis beach and in the gulf of Vasiliki.
Small picturesque villages distributed over the whole island still demonstrate the deep tradition of Lefkada. Some especially famous products of the island are its olive oil, honey, wine, lentils, salami, and pasteli.
Agios Nikitas Village
Just 10,1 km southwest from Lefkothea apartments lies the seaside village of Agios Nikitas. There you can find car/scooter renting services, mini markets, bakeries, traditional taverns and enjoy refreshments by the sea. But the real reason to visit Agios Nikitas is its picturesque views, with paved streets, a beautiful beach and blue, crystal clear waters.

Lefkothea Apartments are located 13km away from the organized beach of Kathisma, with a 2km length, spacious parking space and many choices of beach bars and restaurants to choose from, that will make you want to stay in the crystal, almost transparent waters of the beach forever.
If you want to enjoy the wild landscape from above, don’t hesitate to try a paraglider flight from the top of the mountain. Don’t forget to visit Milos beach as well as the quiet beaches right under Kalamitsi village. In only a 30 minute car ride from the apartments you can enjoy the nature away from the bars and tourist attractions in the privacy of all the small natural beaches all around the island.
Lefkada island useful information
On windy days the sea on the west side can be quite wavy, but you can always enjoy swimming on the east side of the island, where the beaches are more protected from the wind and the water is always quiet. In this region can find small villages and local seaside taverns surrounded by wild nature.
Don’t neglect to visit the inland of the island, where you can find beautiful traditional villages without having to worry about the heat of the summer time. Discover amazing paths perfect for hiking with breathtaking views you will never forget. You can continue exploring the island even under water, since the diving centres in Nikiana (Lefkas diving center) and Vasiliki (Nautilus Diving Club) can help you experience the underwater treasures of the island.
ACCESS LEFKADA ISLAND
Lefkada is one of the Greek Ionian Islands located off the west coast of mainland Greece. The island (also known as Lefkas and Leucade) is connected to the mainland by a 50 meter drawbridge that was built in the 1980s to replace the archaic chain-operated ferry originally introduced by the Emperor Augustus.
In fact Lefkada was not an island at all until the 5th century BC when the inhabitants dug a channel to separate themselves from the mainland.
